Former athletics star Bethany Parker, 16, only began powerlifting six months ago, but this promising young talent already has three titles under her belt.
Bethany currently holds the women’s sub junior lifter title, has broken three national records and was awarded a gold medal in August at the Australian Powerlifting Championships.
Bethany is due to represent Australia in December at the Asia and Oceania Powerlifting Titles in Uzbekistan.
Bethany told the Blacktown Advocate that she was surprised at just how quickly she was able to change from athletics to powerlifting.
“It is pretty crazy to think earlier this year I was an athletics field athlete and now I have been picked to compete for my country in a completely different sport.”
