In the midst of the Australian summer, two brothers, Markus and Shaun, have embarked on a unique and heartwarming journey to spread holiday cheer and raise funds for charity. Clad in Santa suits, these brothers are not your typical runners, but their determination and spirit are lighting up the streets of Berwick and Beaconsfield as they run every day leading up to Christmas.

The idea blossomed from their shared love for the Christmas season, which grew even more since Shaun became a father. "We've always enjoyed Christmas, but now we want to spread that joy around a bit more." The choice of Santa suits, while fitting for the season, also adds a layer of humor and challenge due to the heat. "Running in something so hot and uncomfortable adds to the experience and the enjoyment of people who see us," Markus said to Berwick News.

Having set a goal of $2000, the brothers are well on their way, already having raised almost half of it. But for Markus and Shaun, the experience transcends the monetary aspect. It's about the interaction with the community—the waves, the honks, the laughter, and especially the smiles from children. "Seeing people's reactions, the smiles and waves, gives us a whole new source of motivation."

Beyond the fundraiser, the brothers aim to make a lasting impact by raising awareness about their chosen causes. "We want to get people thinking about these foundations. Peter Mac's cancer research and The Smith Family's work with underprivileged children are important, especially during this season," Markus explained to Cranbourne News.

As Christmas nears, the brothers dream of hosting a community run, turning their personal initiative into a broader, community-driven event. The areas of Berwick and Beaconsfield, known for their strong community bonds, provide the perfect backdrop for such an event. "It's about bringing people together, enjoying each other's company, and making the most of our community spirit," says Shaun.

Looking to the future, the brothers hope to continue this new tradition as long as they're in the area. Their story is not just about fundraising; it's a testament to the power of community, the joy of giving, and the warmth of the festive season, even under the Australian sun.
