MEDIA: Ride of a Lifetime

On October 1st Malcolm Leslie, Jonathan and Gavin Drury all set out on the bike ride of a lifetime. The three are riding approximately 4,200 kilometres from Bathers Beach in Fremantle Western Australia to the border between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific, in Tathra New South Wales.

The team has been training for their ride since January, riding at least 40 kilometres each day, and as they will not have a support vehicle with them, each of the three will be carrying 10-12 kilograms of gear as they ride.

Malcolm is an avid cyclist and has “dreamed of riding across Australia for years.” Having decided to finally challenge himself, Malcolm wanted to use his ride to help the community so Malcolm, Jonathan and Gavin are raising money for the Canberra City Uniting Care Early Morning Centre, which provides meals and services for those experiencing homelessness.

With a mycause campaign set up to receive donations, the community has enthusiastically supported the riders, smashing the $10,000 goal and raising over $24,000 before the ride even started.
