Fundraising push for PTSD support dogs for returned soldiers

The not-for-profit Diggers Military Motorcycle Club and Buderim MP Steve Dickson have joined forces to call for more support as military service personnel return from duty.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a serious issue among ex-military personnel, which is something that Mr Dickson says needs to be addressed at a federal level.

“I was blown away by the suicide rate of returned soldiers,” said Mr Dickson.

“I think the Federal Government has got to jump on board and really take this seriously. We should be bending over backwards as a country to look after them.”

The Diggers Military Motorcycle Club will be raising money for the Young Diggers Dog Squad, which trains up dogs to identify when ex-soldiers are stressed or experiencing a flashback and intervene, distracting the person by showing them affection.
