Reece died fighting evil overseas and now his family want to honour him


“I WAS begging him to come home and if he didn’t, I’d come and find him.”

That was Michelle Harding’s last plea to her son Reece before he was killed in Syria while fighting against Islamic State.

The 23-year-old former Gold Coaster died instantly after stepping on a landmine during a night-time combat operation on Saturday.

Reece headed overseas on May 2, saying he needed “a short break’’ but not telling his parents where he was going.

Reece's closest friends have rallied around the Harding family during this difficult time and are fundraising to support them as they mourn the loss of their son and to pay for Reece's wake and a statue/plaque in his honour.
