A THROBBING headache was the only sign something was wrong, and it changed Erica Dunstan’s life forever.
The 29-year-old was last month diagnosed with grade three astrocytoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, and is undergoing treatment at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Despite the condition having a survival rate of just 20 per cent, the upbeat and positive former Cairns resident remains a pillar of strength.
“On the day of the surgery, everyone was worried but I knew deep down I was going to be OK,’’ she said.
The ordeal started on April 10 when Miss Dunstan describes having the “worst headache of my life”.
“I thought I was going to vomit or pass out,’’ she said.
The next night Miss Dunstan (pictured) said she “blanked out” and her partner Harvey Richmond noticed her jaw had “gone off to one side”.
