Vets’ Blind Faith in Plea for a Man’s Best Friend

DARCEY the whippet is blind – and so is his human owner.

But it is hoped a fundraising campaign to raise $7500 and restore Darcey’s sight will help transform the life of the two-year-old dog and his 68-year-old master.

Vets’ blind faith in plea for a man’s best friend

The pooch was in perfect health until juvenile cataracts caused him to begin losing his sight six months ago.

He has now lost all – a huge blow for his doting owner, a man from Hobart’s Northern Suburbs who wishes to remain anonymous, who was given the pup after he lost his own sight just over two years ago.

Darcey helped him on outings and to navigate around the house, but now they barely leave the house.

North Hobart Veterinary Hospital staff have set up a fundraising web page to cover the cost of specialist surgery in Melbourne.

Vet Manty Arnott said clinic staff saw many animals who needed assistance but this case particularly tugged heartstrings.

To donate visit mycause or call North Hobart Veterinary Hospital on 6234 7044. Darcey’s progress will be updated at www.facebook.com/The DarceyAppeal.
