Solaris Cancer Care was the first organization of its kind in Australia and is the only Western Australian based organisation providing vital support to cope with the emotional and physical side effects of cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery at no cost, and without sufficient funding, they will no longer be able to treat and assist the thousands of individuals affected by cancer every day.
Relying only on donations, and receiving no government funding, a downturn in the economy and a rising need for their services has left Solaris without enough funding to provide all the therapies they have in the past, let alone stay afloat. So, Solaris has reached out to the community with a crowdfunding campaign and asked for their help.
Crowdfunding appeals are very important to charities like Solaris, as they provide a digital platform to receive donations. The campaign can be shared on social media and donors can leave messages of support as well as receive an immediate tax receipt.
Donations are the lifeblood of these not-for-profit organisations whose primary goals are always to help others before themselves. Charities are highly beneficial to the causes they stand for, but they cannot possibly accomplish what they set out to if they don’t have enough funding.
Donations are the reason charities can keep their doors open and care for the people, communities, and conditions that they care so much about. Solaris Cancer Care, for example, fears it may have to close its doors permanently because they did not receive enough donations in the last year to keep it alive. Sadly, this would mean they would no longer be around to do the amazing work they have been and would leave many patients without the care they need but cannot afford.
Solaris has a glimmer of hope, however, with their crowdfunding campaign raising more than $24,000 in the past month, the charity organisation will be able to keep going for the near future, and with more donations, it may be able to provide its crucial services indefinitely.
All of this was possible due to the community support Solaris received on mycause. A mycause crowdfunding campaign is simple to set up, easy to share with potential donors, and most importantly, can save a charity organisation who will go on to help many people. While a charity may be completely dedicated to helping a cause, they cannot do it alone, and they require enough funding to offer necessary services to the people who need them.
If you would like to help a charity help others, you can start a mycause campaign and choose one or more of the hundreds of charities partnered with the website, and who all need financial support to operate.
