BASE Services Inc. is a Toowoomba-based, not for profit, community development organization, that works with individuals of all ages and families in need in the Toowoomba community who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness. The organization started an initiative in February 2017 called 2nd Shot, an espresso bar that trains homeless people in the hospitality industry and helps them get off the street. So far 2nd Shot has supported 15 people experiencing homelessness to find secure accommodation, 5 people to find paid employment outside of 2nd Shot and 5 people to complete a Certificate III in hospitality.
Now, 2nd Shot has decided to open another location, to help more people, but to do so, they need to renovate their store front and kitchen. Estimates predict that the entire renovation will cost more than $30,000 to complete, so BASE Services has started a mycause campaign to fundraise for this project. A local tradesman, David Collins, was called in to give a quote for the renovation when he decided he would undertake the project for free, wanting to lend a hand and help those who really need it. You can read more of the story on the Chronicle.
There are many reasons and projects that require crowdfunding and using mycause.com.au makes it easy.
