Morris Mukasa and Teddy Nakalembe have spent the last five and a half years missing their children.
In 2017, the parents were forced to flee Uganda and leave their five children, aged 9 and below, in community care.
Through their pain, they both settled in Sydney and worked hard, also helping other refugees and asylum seekers.
They never gave up hope that their own family would be reunited once more.
That dream is now a much closer reality, as the couple received permanent residency visas in July this year.
In August, the couple began an online fundraising page with mycause for help in reuniting with their beloved children.
“When I see my kids in the flesh for the first time it will be the happiest day of my life, certainly the happiest thing that will have happened to me since 2017,” Teddy told The Catholic Weekly.
