On Thursday, 27th of September, a team of around thirty riders will set off on a three-day ride around Melbourne’s Goldfield region to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Australia.
The trip, which will take the group from North Melbourne through Rowsley, Maldon, Heathcote, Greenvale and Kilmore before heading back to North Melbourne, is a staggering 450 kilometers long and will take the riders, some of whom are novices, through rocky terrain and mountain landscapes, making the trip even more challenging.
This annual challenge, which is now in its twelfth year, means a lot to those who participate in it. Many of the riders register for the challenge because they have a family member or friend who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy and understand that not everyone could push their body to the limits like they do. Some rare participants even suffer from MD themselves and bravely take on this monumental challenge.
Riders can register through mycause for the challenge event and raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Australia, with each participant being encouraged to raise a minimum of $2,500 from their friends and community.
This event is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are up to the challenge, it is a fantastic way to show support for those suffering from MD and raise money for a charity which conducts research in to the condition as well as providing services to those suffering from it.
For those who may not want to complete the ride, sponsoring someone who is undertaking the challenge or donating directly to Muscular Dystrophy Australia can also help people suffering from MD live better lives.
Register to ride or donate through ChallengeMD’s mycause event today.
