International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

According to Destroy the Joint's project Counting Dead Women, in Australia 45 women have died from domestic violence this year. 45 too many.

25 November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. A day to recognise the importance of breaking the cycle of women falling victim to abuse.

Since COVID-19, emerging data from the UN have shown that domestic violence against women and girls has intensified globally.

Thankfully in Australia, there are charities working on the frontlines to support and protect women facing harm.

Susie, a paramedic from NSW grew up witnessing traumatic experiences from the women in her life.

This year, she decided to give back to the movement to stop domestic violence against women by fundraising for Women’s Community Shelter, surpassing her goal and raising over $4,000 - https://www.mycause.com.au/page/231733/raising-money-for-womens-community-shelter

There are many ways to provide support to women facing violence and donating to charities like the RizeUp, Women’s Community Shelter and Bethany is one of them.

Community support for women battling with violence is incredible this year with many fundraising events raising funds back to the cause.

The Walk for Women and Children is helping to fund Manly Warringah Women's Resource Centre with a fundraiser event in Sydney raised over $34,500 so far.

We’re so proud of all the Australian charities that are doing their part to empower women. Let’s continue to #DestroytheJoint and build a safe place for women around the world!
