Honour the Memory of Someone Special

Dealing with the loss of someone you love is never easy. It is a difficult time for immediate family, friends, and the wider community.

However even when someone is gone, their legacy will continue to live on. They will be remembered, missed, and honoured for their life.

The ultimate way to pay tribute to the life of someone special and build upon their legacy is by giving back to a cause that they were passionate about through fundraising.

A memory fundraiser for a charity is a beautiful tribute to honour your lost loved one while giving back to a cause they truly cared about. It is a powerful way to keep their memory alive in a way that helps others.

Where to start?

  1. Choose a charity that you you or your loved one was passionate about. You can even choose two charities!
  2. Create a fundraising page and share their story. You can add pictures too.
  3. Invite friends, family and work mates to the fundraising page to help give back and honour the legacy that they have left in this life.

Here are some beautiful tribute fundraisers in memory of a loved one:

In Memory of Ladybird

The 9th of October marks the five-year anniversary of Ginny’s passing in 2015. Ginny had tragically passed away after fighting breast cancer for nine years.

Her final wish which was written in a letter before her passing is to provide financial aid to people facing the financial hardships and strain of breast cancer treatment.

To commemorate the giving spirit of Ginny, her friends and family have started a crowdfunding initiative where all funds raised go towards Breast Cancer Research Centre WA.

The fundraiser has raised over $12,500 so far and is nearly halfway towards their goal!

Chelsea’s Legacy for Children in Need

Chelsea and her boyfriend Lukasz had tragically lost their lives this year.

To honour the legacy of Chelsea and continue her passion for feeding children in need, her family and friends created a fundraising initiative where all funds go towards the charity, Puddle Jumpers.

Chelsea was an active volunteer at Puddle Jumpers, a South Australian NGO that provides essential food relief and welfare services to families and people in need during crisis, camps, day activities and mentoring for societies most vulnerable children.

The fundraiser went so well that it surpassed its goal and raised a whopping $18,412!

In Memory of Madeline Dell

On 23 September, Madeline had lost her life. To honour her memory, her family and friends have created a tribute fundraiser towards a cause that she cared deeply about, the mental health awareness and support for Indigenous people.

The fundraiser has gone well beyond their target raising over $51,731 for the Westerman Jilya Institute for Indigenous Mental Health.

Jilya is an Aboriginal community organisation that aims to drive best practice across the complex areas of Indigenous suicide prevention, trauma, criminogenic and mental health. A big part of the Jilya Institute is to increase the number of Indigenous psychologists into the highest risk Indigenous communities.

A portion of the money raised will go towards an Indigenous Psychology Scholarship in Madeline's name.

Simon’s Music Scholarship Legacy

The sudden loss of music university student, Simon Hatton on the 10th of August was a shock to family, friends, and the local community.

The Hatton’s decided to channel the community’s desire to help by creating a fundraiser for a music scholarship to honour Simon’s life dream to pursue music.

The scholarship fundraiser will help provide tutoring support to a sax player like Simon, technical sax support and mentoring to someone who needs guidance from someone respected by those in the music scene.

The tribute fundraiser has raised over $65,200 and is closing in on the fundraising goal.
