Father-of-two, Kane Bennett who was killed by a lightning strike at Worongary, was farewelled today.
FAMILY and friends of Kane Bennett gathered this morning to farewell the husband and father of two who was tragically killed in a storm on the Gold Coast.
More than 100 people from all over the country attended the funeral in Nerang which lasted for nearly two hours.
Mr Bennett, 39, was killed when he was hit by a lightning strike while seeking shelter from a dangerous storm under a park shelter at Worongary on Saturday January 31.
He was with his wife Mary Mourgelas and their two young children Max, 22 months and Bella, 12 weeks, at the time of the tragedy.
Tears flowed as Mr Bennett’s casket was carried from the funeral hall and 50 balloons were let into the air.
