Since Australia entered a ‘new normal’ of social isolation when the pandemic hit early this year, many of the nation’s local sports clubs have been significantly impacted and forced to stop.
From children’s basketball teams, young adults’ footy league, to even senior’s bowling club, sport is ingrained in the Australian culture and helps improve social, physical, and mental wellbeing for all ages.
Majority of the funding for local sports clubs come from canteen sales during games, although with the limitations of lockdown laws, there is little to no support that can be provided.
That is why many clubs are turning to virtual fundraising so that supporters can help local team’s stay afloat and active again once lockdown ceases.
Renowned for their limited-time online shopping deals, Click Frenzy found a way to give back to the local sports community that is in dire need of financial support.
Over the weekend (20 – 23 August 2020), Click Frenzy launched their ‘Virtual Canteen’ fundraising event supporting hundreds of sports clubs across Australia.
The Virtual Canteen is a unique opportunity to purchase a virtual meat pie, drink, or family pack to support your local sporting club!
Supporters can even shout their mate a virtual sausage roll or drink and send a personalised message to them about the generous ‘purchase’.
Proudly supported by 2XU and Anaconda Australia, the fundraising initiative was a huge success raising almost $100,000 in just three days.
