COACT Power of Many Conference 2015

There's a lot to be said about the challenge of getting things done!

But there is even MORE to be said about getting them done in a way that activates and benefits your community or your organisation.

These were the questions on everyone's lips at COACT 2015: The Power of Many Conference (Canberra 23/24 june).

With such dillemmas and problems needing to be solved, mycause was naturally asked to be a part of the discussion.

Our CEO and Founder, Tania, was invited to speak about "bringing funders and projects together".

She spoke on a panel with Kyle Macfarlane (CSR CommBank), Chris Wooton (Philantrophy Australia) and Peter Quamby (Community 21).

Along with Tania, there was an exceptional range of speakers who presented on the challenges of community activation.

They included:

- Caroline Casey: a TED speaker who works passionately to get meaningful employment for those with disability.

- Ronni Khan: founder of revolutionary food company OzHarvest

- Nick Moriatis: from seminal Australian campaigning organisation GetUp

- Graeme Innes AM: lawyer, disability expert and all around inspiration human being.

- Waleed Aly: media personality, advocate and academic.

- David Rohrsheim: GM of Uber Australia & New Zealand

- Patti McCarthy: business diversity consultant

Some of the key findings and heavily discussed topics and tips from the conference included:

FOCUS ON COLLABORATION

THINKING OF SOLUTIONS IN NEW WAYS

FRESH CORPORTATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

REMEDY THE YOUTH JOBLESS RATE & LACK OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WORKING

DISRUPTING ECONOMIES (PEOPLE WANT THINGS CHEAPER, FASTER, BETTER & WITHOUT OLD, SLOW ORGANISATIONS e.g Uber, AirBnb, crowdfunding)

Funnily enough mycause, represented by Tania, can speak to all of these topics with some form of expertise.

Our fundraising pages are full of everyday Australians, businesses and philanthropists who want to achive great outcomes in these areas.
