I am honoured to be cutting the ribbon to start the walk in Canberra!
I have recently been given a terminal diagnosis with my stage 4 melanoma and I was then asked what legacy I want to leave behind. That's a deep question but it was so easy to answer- I just want to continue to spread awareness on melanoma. I wish people would realise how dangerous and serious melanoma and skin cancer is, it is not just a matter of cutting out a mole and being ok.
I have had one tiny mole on my back progress to stage 4 melanoma which has spread pretty much everywhere from my neck to my pelvis.
Melanoma is sadly the most common cancer in us young Australians yet I still constantly see tanning and sunburn glamourised on social media and Tv and it needs to stop! I have been sunburnt twice in my life and I am left dying from melanoma. Please everyone take note on how serious this is, tell everyone and get a skin check. Love to you all.
Thank you for stopping by and supporting Australian Skin Cancer Foundation and myself. I look forward to meeting the other walkers. PS- I am a hugger ?
With love from New York
