The students of St Francis De Sales Primary School in Oak Park are raising money for a new adventure playground.
And here’s the thing… this is their fundraiser, i.e. they will be asked to raise donations for the walk-a-thon/scooter-a-thon, then they will participate in it.
By raising the money for the event themselves then participating in it, the benefits for students are threefold:
1) they take ownership of the event, thereby enabling them to feel like they are contributing towards the betterment of the school
2) it gets them outside
3) it helps keep them active, and therefore healthy.

As an incentive for students, all moneys raised by them will be tallied up and added to their classroom total. The class that then raises the most money at the end of the campaign will win a prize or activity that each student in that classroom can benefit from.
The St Francis de Sales Parents & Friends Association is happy to support this initiative and work with the school to achieve a positive outcome for the students. We know that when we reach our goal, the new equipment will be a much-loved addition to the school – now, and for generations to come.
The total cost of the adventure playground is budgeted at over $50,000, with the Parents & Friends Association aiming to contribute $10,000 towards that figure. Our hope is to have the adventure playground installed before the start of the 2017 school year, so every donation gets us a little closer to that goal.
