Sidetember 2013 - Feel the Burns

Sidetember is a special fundraising event which takes place during the month formerly known as September.

On Sidetember 1, SideGuys everywhere start with a clean shaven face and for the next 30 days proceed to grow wonderful, flowing, powerful sideburns.

At the same time, SideGirls wear specially crafted Sidetember Jewellery - locally, hand-made SideStuds or a beautiful SidePendant, which are the same design as the Sidetember logo.

They do this as a fundraising challenge. Sure, it helps that Sideburns and Sidetember Jewellery look great, but the main motivation is to fundraise for those living with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

Money raised by SideGuys and SideGirls goes to Brain Injury Organisations across Australia working with the 1 in 12 Australians currently living with an ABI.

Donating your face to charity for the month achieves another powerful impact - it starts conversations. There is very little public awareness surrounding ABIs and the impact they have on people's lives. 

We also hope that people take the time to think about some of the causes of ABI and how they may be minimised. Whether that is taking it slower on the roads, not getting in to a fight when out on the town or protecting your head during sport - if Sidetember can get people talking and avoid just one ABI, then it has been a success.
