In a world where mental health is becoming a crucial topic of conversation, it's heartening to witness individuals stepping up to champion this cause. One such champion is Justice Langer, an Australian cricket coach, former cricketer, and dedicated advocate of mental health awareness. As a father of four, Langer is taking on the extraordinary challenge of the cape2cape Trek this October in the hopes of raising funds for youth mental health.

Justice is not just trekking for the physical challenge; he is doing it in honor of Jacob Veitch, a bright young man who, despite his own struggles, always put the needs of others above his own. Jacob, who loved soccer, hip hop, and was passionate about connecting with his indigenous roots, tragically is no longer with us. He serves as a poignant reminder of the pressing need for mental health support within our communities.

The cape2cape Trek is a unique fundraising event organised by zero2hero, a leading advocate for youth mental health and suicide prevention in Australia. The trek involves a gruelling 135-kilometre journey from Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse to Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse over five days. But it's not all sweat and toil; the trekkers get to experience some of the most stunning parts of Western Australia’s southwest coastline that often go unnoticed.

Every dollar raised from this event goes directly to supporting zero2hero's school programs and mental health leadership camps, crucial initiatives aimed at making a tangible impact on the lives of young people. Over the past five years, more than 230 trekkers have collectively raised over $907,000 through this event.

As Justice prepares for this challenging adventure, his dedication is driven by his deep understanding of mental health issues. As he profoundly states, "you are only as happy as your unhappiest child." He has publicly shared his commitment to this cause in The West Australian newspaper, helping to bring more awareness and incite more action.

While the trek promises a physical challenge, it is also a platform for business leaders to connect with the cause, learn more about zero2hero's mission, and meet others in their community who share their passion for making a difference. Participants are treated to an immersive experience, complete with fully catered meals, guest speakers, and nightly events tailored to enhance the overall experience.

In undertaking the cape2cape trek, Justice Langer is not only challenging himself physically but also continuing to spotlight the pressing need for youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention. His journey is a testament to the power of collective action and the profound impact it can have on our communities. We look forward to following Justice's journey in October, knowing that each step taken is a step closer to better mental health support for our youth.
