Banjo's Bakery Cafes began online fundraising after tragedy hit a young Hobart family.
In the early hours of 22 January 2016, a car accident took the life of pregnant mother of two, Sarah Paino.
Sarah had just dropped off her partner at his workplace. Daniel Stirling was a baker at Banjo's Bakery Cafes in Hobart, Tasmania.
Travelling home with their 2 year old son in the back seat, Sarah was hit by a stolen vehicle that ran a red light.
She lost her life in the accident. Sarah was 34 weeks pregnant.
Her baby was delivered alive moments after the crash thanks to a Royal Hobart Hospital medical team. Two-year-old Jordan suffered only minor injuries.
In response to the tragic event, Banjo's stores and MyState Bank started a mycause fundraising page to assist the family with any financial needs.
The online fundraiser quickly gathered momentum. Within five hours they had raised more than $30,000. It took only one week to reach a staggering $370,000.
In total, the Stirling Family mycause fundraising page attracted more that 5300 donations and raised over $570,000.
The funds rasied are being held in a Trust and support the Stirling family as they move forward in their lives.
mycause has supported many families and communities in need during tragedies, disasters and other events.
Fundraising on the mycause platform is free.
