Happy National Volunteer Week to the six million volunteers across Australia!
This week is a celebration of the significant contribution of Australia’s almost six million volunteers who dedicate over 600 million hours to help others every year.
The theme for NVW 2021 is 'Recognise, Reconnect and Reimagine' as we celebrate and thank volunteers for the vital role they play in making a difference to life-changing charities and causes.
Are you wondering how you can join the amazing volunteer community? Here are a few ways how:
1. FUNDRAISE for the charities you're passionate about
Fundraising is a great way to volunteer. It's different from donating because you are giving back your time and energy to the cause that you're passionate about by encouraging your friends, family and community to donate to your fundraiser.
2. HOST a fundraising event
Planning a fundraising event is a wonderful way to engage your network and local community in your cause while building plenty of momentum to raise worthy charity funds.
3. SHARE your unique skills
Everyone has their own special talents and skills that they can offer to any team. By sharing your unique skills to a charity, you'll be able to make a massive difference while working with a cause that you're really passionate about.
4. OFFER your time to the cause
Charities and non-for-profit organisations are usually run by a small team who 'wear many hats' throughout the day. By offering your time to the cause, you can help the team make more of an impact while also contributing to the charity's overall mission.
5. RAISE AWARENESS about the issue
Charities put a lot of time, effort and at times money, behind raising awareness about their cause to the public. By being an active ambassador and spreading the word, you will be able to help the charity become recognised and supported by others.
We wish you all the best in your upcoming volunteering journey!
