Mehdi's home run

Iranian amputee Mehdi Mashhoutpour arrived here as a refugee. Mehdi hopes to one day thank his new home nation by representing Australia in the next Paralympic Games.

Despite losing his leg in Iran 10 years ago, it was only after he arrived in Australia in July 2013 that he was given a prosthetic leg.

“I’m just so grateful for the treatment I’ve received since I came to Australia, it’s changed my life,” said Mehdi in a recent interview with the Moreland Leader.

It is Mehdi’s hope that after being fitted for a specifically designed prosthetic leg at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, he will be able to shave valuable seconds from his track time.
