MEDIA: The Gibb Groms

The Gibb Challenge is a life defining 660km adventure from the deep port Kimberley town of Derby to the world acclaimed million acres El Questro Wilderness Park, and this year, it is being taken on by the Gibb Groms, a team of six 11 and 12 year olds.

The Gibb Challenge supports The Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Australia. Registered teams each have a fundraising page and ask friends and family to donate. The Gibb Groms are no exception and have raised over $2,200 for RFDS so far.

The team has been training for the big five-day ride starting on the 19th of May and according to team member Cayden (12), they are “looking forward to finishing it and knowing [they] completed it and it’s done, that will be the real achievement.”

Gibb Challenge event director Simon Rimmer told The West Australian that the Gibb Groms are “without a doubt the youngest group to ever compete,” and “It is great to see young people giving back to an organisation that has helped them and their families at such a young age and it has been inspiring to say the least.”

Best of luck to the Gibb Groms and all the teams taking part in the Gibb Challenge 2019!
