Operation Flinders City to Summit is back for its second year. Last year's event attracted 25 teams of over 100 individuals and raised more than $75,000.
Operation Flinders Foundation supports youth aged 13 - 18 to develop confidence and drive with a variety of camps, experiences and programs.
CEO of Operation Flinders, David Wark, told Glam Adelaide: “The young people who come to Operation Flinders, come from difficult backgrounds and have lives that are challenging, and not necessarily by their own doing. They deserve an opportunity, a chance and a future,”
For the City to Summit event, teams or individuals will set off from the Adelaide CBD and trek 6 - 8 hours with an experienced Operation Flinders Foundation Team Leader.
They engage in ‘Foundation experiences’ along the way which are designed to immerse them into the world of Operation Flinders.
“The City to Summit is a one-of-a-kind unique event that offers a personal experience and glimpse into just some of the challenges young people may face during our 8-day Flinders Ranges program,” said Wark.
The hikers will relax together afterwards at Woodhouse Activity Centre with a “welcoming and replenishing dinner”. Then, Martin Heppell from The Resilience Project will share his journey of resilience and strategies to experience more fulfilment.
The 2022 one-day trek will be held from 9 am Friday 28 October. Registrations are now open.
