Beloved former NRL player and coach, Paul Green, was found unresponsive two weeks ago in his home, at the age of 49.
It appears Paul’s long history with the game may have had a hand in the events that led to his death. His family will donate his brain for research into repetitive head injuries and concussions.
Paul played Rugby League for many years, retiring from playing in 2004. He then went on to coach the Cowboys from 2014 to 2020 and was last year Queensland State of Origin coach until he lost his ‘dream job’ when the Maroons’ suffered a series loss to the Blues.
In memory of Paul, Their family have launched a mycause fundraising page to raise money for the Australian Sports Brain Bank.
“Paul was known for always looking out for others. We are proud that part of his legacy will be looking out for the brain health of all others involved in the game that he loved.”
The page was created a week after Paul’s passing. After 10 days, they have already raised $16,000.
You can donate in memory of Paul at https://mycau.se/in-memory-of-paul-green. Our thoughts are with the family.

Paul's wife, Amanda, also spoke to The Australian about the insidious way his brain injury began to change the "beautiful" husband and father.
