MEDIA: Baby Alba meets the angels who helped bring her home
Sarah and Kara are friends of baby Alba’s parents, who became well known across the media after Alba was born prematurely in the Ukraine – just days before war broke out – and needed urgent medical attention. Her parents were still at home in Melbourne and desperate to reach her side.
Sarah and Kara started a mycause fundraising page to help Jess and Kevin Van Nooten unite with their baby girl and bring her home to Australia.
“We know accepting money does not come easily to Jess and Kev, but under these extraordinarily exceptional circumstances, easing the financial burden of the multitude of unforeseen costs that are a direct result of the war in Ukraine, will go a long way to helping their little family,” wrote Kara.
In a matter of days, they had raised more than $56,000 with over 968 donors from across the country.
Now, baby Alba is 6 months old!
The three friends have been reunited for the first time since the ordeal began, and the get-together also marked Kara’s first meeting with the little lady in question.
