David Kelly was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in November 2017 at the age of 33. Although David was a bit worried about himself, he was more worried about his family. David wanted to make sure that when he is gone, his wife Anna, and two children Emma (aged 6) and James (aged 2) would have good memories of him and be taken care of. David created a mycause campaign to raise money for his family and the community was there to support him, donating a total of $23,525.
Now, almost a year on, David has been able to create some wonderful memories with his family and put some money aside for them. The family has taken trips to Broome and Noosa, as well as visiting Australia Zoo in Queensland.
David is still working, and although he has to take some time off for medical reasons, his doctors tell him that he still has some time, which he is very grateful for.
David and his family realise that not everyone suffering from Motor Neurone Disease is as capable as David at this stage, and many do not have as much time as he does, so, remembering the generosity they received last year, they wanted to give back to MND Vicotria. The Kellys, along with some extended family and friends have signed up to participate in Walk to D'Feet MND, which they will be doing in Carlton in November and Geelong in March.
The family has raised almost $2,000 for MND Victoria.
