It Takes a Village to Raise a Bear

$130,054 RAISED

Sally Rodd adopted Jigsaw the Vietnamese Moon Bear back in 2010, saving him from a life in a bear bile farm and moving him to Animals Asia’s bear sanctuary in North Hanoi. Jigsaw was the 39th bear rescued back in 2010, and now there have been over 200 bears rescued.

While Sally raised $14,500 to adopt Jigsaw and move him to the sanctuary, there are many ongoing costs involved with keeping the hundreds of bears fed and healthy once they are at the sanctuary. On average, it takes $12,000 to keep one bear for one year and there are lots of bears that need taking care of.

So, Sally created another mycause campaign in 2015 to keep raising money for the Hanoi sanctuary Moon Bears. Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of people, over the last three years the campaign has raised almost $100,000 which has kept many bears happy, healthy, and out of danger.
