HOW TO FUNDRAISE FOR CORONAVIRUS COVID-19

In this time of self-quarantine and social isolation, the internet can be our best friend. The internet is our main way of communicating, purchasing and staying informed, but it is also the best way to help people or charities who need your support. You can raise money for Coronavirus online by starting a Covid-19 Fundraising Page for any person, Australian charity or group of charities.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO FUNDRAISE DURING CORONAVIRUS?

With the spread of Coronavirus increasing, there are not only many individuals and families that need help, but also charities and research organisations.

People are losing their jobs left, right and centre, small businesses are having to shut their doors because they cannot afford to continue operating with the decrease in foot traffic and sales, and charities, who rely year round on donations to provide services and support to the community, have seen a drastic drop in charitable giving.

Why does this matter you ask? It matters because when small businesses close the economy suffers, and when charities close, the community suffers. If we cannot work together to ensure our economy and community survive the Covid-19 pandemic, then we will have to rebuild them from scratch when the outbreak is over, and this will surely be more costly than maintaining what we have now.

HOSPITALS

Start fundraising for Coronavirus and help the many hospitals that need urgent access to more supplies and funds. Some hospitals are struggling to stay on top of the huge numbers of people who are coming through their doors each day to get tested for Cocid-19 or be admitted because they have severe symptoms.

Other hospitals are conducting extremely important research into the virus and a possible vaccine against it but they do not have enough funding to properly do their research.

All of these hospitals need support, and you can help them by crowdfunding online and asking your friends, colleagues and acquaintances to make donations and make sure Australia’s hospitals can do their best when caring for Australians.

If you start fundraising for Covid-19 CORONA VIRUS all funds go straight to the charity. Or simply donate to your local hospital. SUPPORT YOUR HOSPITAL HERE.

CHARITIES

Fundraising for charities during the Coronavirus pandemic is the only way they will survive and be able to continue their work in the community. Charities cannot possibly do the amazing work they have in the past without donations and the best way to make sure charities receive donations is by fundraising for them.

You could make sure your favourite charity has enough money to keep going by reaching out through social media and asking for donations through a fundraising page on mycause.com.au. This way, all the money you raise will be sent directly to the charity’s bank account and everyone who donates will even get a tax deductible receipt.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP

While fundraising is the best and easiest way to help anyone who has been affected by Coronavirus, either by being infected, losing their job or anything else that has happened as a result of the virus, there are some other ways you can help your community.

Firstly, you could create and give care packages. Many people, especially the elderly or those who have been living pay check to pay check, have not been able to stock up on the food and items they need to survive during the lockdown. If you happen to have a surplus of some items, or you know a few people who have a bit more than they need, you could put together boxes of food items and drop them at the front doors of people you know are in need. (However please make sure not to have physical contact with them as social distancing is in place.)

Secondly, you could reach out to friends and family over social media, the phone or Zoom/Skype to check in on their mental health. While people are in self isolation they may begin to feel lonely and cut off from the world, increasing the likelihood of mental illness. Checking in with your loved ones regularly can make them feel like they are still part of a community and that they have access to help if they need it.

Thirdly, you could support small businesses by continuing to purchase from them whenever possible. Stimulating the economy and supporting people’s livelihood by shopping at small businesses is a great way to help. You can support small businesses by buying take away food from your local restaurants, going to family run greengrocers for your fruit and vegetables, and ordering online from your local shops.

Finally and probably most important, we all need to work together to slow the spread of the virus. Keep social distancing and avoid going out unnecessarily so that hospitals can manage a smaller number of patients at a time, and hopefully fewer people will contract Coronavirus.
