Flying Love Letter to Melbourne

As we draw closer to the end of the year, we reflect on what the year of 2020 has taught us. Lessons of resilience, emotional strength and solidary shared by the common goal of seeing an end to the world’s battle with COVID-19.

The City of Melbourne continues to brace for its seventh month in strict lockdown and is anticipating the finish line by the end of October.

To help brighten the city’s spirits, Global Ballooning Australia have launched an ambitious passion project to spread the message of positivity and courage as a final goodbye to the year of 2020.

25 years in the industry, the family owned and operated business have started a crowdfunding initiative to help raise $150,000 that will fund a flagship balloon with thousands of individual messages of hope, love and celebration through the first post-pandemic hot air balloon flight over Melbourne - https://mycau.se/MelbourneLoveLetter

Donors have the chance to etch their name, write a personal message or include a company or brand logo up in the skies to symbolise our road to recovery and farewell to what has been a challenging year for many.

There are certain perks that come with different levels of donor support. These are:

  • $100 = Have your name and postcode printed on the balloon. ie. 'Sam Smith, 3121' or 'the Adams Family'
  • $300 = Have your name and ‘twitter style’ message printed on the balloon (in any language).? ie. Thank you, my fellow Melbournians. We are stronger, together and made it through together!
  • $3,000 = Have your local company, corporate brand or any design on a larger portion of the balloon. You'll receive a picture of your panel once it is completed.
