MEDIA: Crowdfunding helps Australia’s strongest woman achieve

Crowdfunding to compete overseas

Megan Clark is Australia’s strongest woman under 82 kilograms.

Thanks to her mycause fundraising page, Megan is off to represent Australia at the Official Strongman Games in Florida next month.

The Perth athlete is a three-time Strongwoman champ.

However, this is the first time she’s been able to go overseas to compete.

“It was all supposed to happen three years ago and then COVID hit, so I couldn’t even compete nationally,” she told The West Australian.

“I was just sitting over in WA, just biding my time and training hard,”

It was hard for Megan to not be able to continue with her passion, especially when she saw what a formidable force she is in the under 82 kilograms category.

“When they started to put comps on over the eastern states, the people who were winning it weren’t lifting anywhere near what I could lift, but I couldn’t attend any of them.”

The Official Strongman Games brings together hundreds of the world's top Strongmen and Women from 30 countries.

Megan is confident in her strength after she set a new world record for the silver dollar deadlift last month, lifting 20kg over the previous mark.

Megan also recently won the title at the 2022 Australian Strongman Alliance National Strongwoman under 82kgs in Queensland.

She first took the ASA title when she competed in her first-ever National Strongman competition last year.

Clark is fundraising on mycause to reach Florida with the help of her friend Ashleigh Cassidy.

She aims to raise $5000 in time for the games in November and is very close to hitting that target one month out from the competition.

All the best in Daytona, Megan!
