Cuddle cot to help ease the pain

LOSING a child would be difficult for parents and losing an infant at birth or shortly after could be described as unimaginable.

One Bundaberg woman would like to help ease the loss the parents feel, giving them the chance to say their goodbyes in a timely manner.

Simone Barry is rasing money to buy a Cuddle Cot for the Bundaberg Hospital and, at a cost of $4500, she is hoping to have community support.

"A Cuddle Cot is similar to a normal cot but is equipped with a cooling unit," Mrs Barry said.

"I want to buy a Cuddle Cot to give to the hospital just in case they ever need it.

"It will give parents of newborns or babies that pass away shortly after birth the chance to spend more time with them."

Mrs Barry said most people didn't realise that still births and infant deaths occured as often as they did.
