MEDIA: Community Supports Broken Family After Tragic Snake Bite Accident

On Wednesday the 12th of May, local Taradale man, Vange, was outdoors hard at work on a landscaping job.

After leaving the property he arrived at the tip, announcing he wasn’t feeling great, moments later Vange collapsed suffering a cardiac arrest. Paramedics arrived and worked on him for an hour and a half, his heart stopped three times as they tried to save him.

It was later discovered that Vange had unknowingly been bitten by a snake at some point that day. Vange was on life-support for the following days but sadly passed away on the 20th of May.

Vange leaves behind his devoted wife, Anet, and a beautiful little girl named Evie who are both devastated by his sudden loss.

That’s when the Drummond community rallied together and created a crowdfunding campaign to help the Moran’s pick themselves back up after losing the loving father and breadwinner of their family.

Campaign creator Claire Rawlinson says, “We are asking for your help to ease the financial pressure as they come to terms with their loss. The impact of losing an entire wage is unthinkable for any family, and something no one should have to worry about after the death of a beloved dad and partner.”

Vange’s wife Anet is also a much-loved member of the community, being an integral part of the growth of the local primary school, a carer of many local children, and a friend to many.

Claire says, “Anet is as selfless as they come and even during her own difficult time still offers to lend a hand to others. Now it’s our turn to give something back, I couldn’t think of a more deserving family. So collectively let’s rally our community to support Anet and Evie, and do our very best for our beautiful friends, a family who always is there for others when they need them.”

Vange’s daughter Evie says, “My Dad is the best Dad ever! He is a creative thinker, hard worker, talented musician, stubborn, loving, great mate, legend, eats Brussel sprouts, perfectionists, tall (6ft1), bunnings lover, grumpy, caring, and greater fixer.”

Since starting the fundraising campaign in June, over 82 donations have been made raising over $13,591 for the Morans. A total that is not far from its $20,000 goal thanks to the community’s efforts.
