Kicked by a coward. Please help my gorgeous boy Axle

On the 1st October my gorgeous 8month old Burmese kitten was kicked in the abdomen by a coward.

When he didn't come to bed I knew something was wrong. In the morning he still had not shown up and I immediately when to the streets calling, posting "Lost" notice on local Facebook groups, called local vet. 20mins later my son finds him in the family room, all dirty and definitely not well, it was quickly obvious he was seriously injured and had crawled his way home.

My son and I rushed Axle to the vets where they quickly tended to him. He was in shock and had suffered an abdominal injury. X-rays would show what the extent of the injury was.

Axle underwent a massive 2 hour surgery the following day. The vets said they had not seen such a serious injury. Axles muscle was even torn from his hip. The vet believes that the injury is not consistent with a car hit but consistent with a force from a kick. I am so sad to think someone in my neighbourhood could do this to a defenseless animal.

9 days after Axle's surgery he was readmitted to hospital. His wound was infected and the tissue was degrading. This has meant further surgery which also means for trauma for him. This poor boy has been through enough.

For 2 weeks Axle must wear an Elizabethan Collar to protect his surgery site and prevent further infection. He must be confined to a small cage for a minimum of 4 weeks to allow time for the muscle to reattach to the hip.

I can afford to pay some but not all of his vet fees as I am a sole parent of 2 boys and receive a Carers Pension for my eldest son (9 years) who has autism. I am unable to work as I have to be on call for my son. Axles vet fees to date are just shy of $3500.

If you could assist in any way I would be forever thankful. I have been a foster carer for cats and kittens with a local pet rescue group and understand the importance of public support. Any funds raised over and above that needed for Axles surgery will be donated to 9 Lives Cat Rescue, a local not for profit rescue group in Perth.

Please help my gorgeous boy, he is just a baby and such a beautiful, loving and affectionate kitten. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him.
