1 in 5 Australians live with a disability and of those 4 million only 25% are actively participating in sport (CSIRO 2013).
A staggering 3 million people are missing out on an active lifestyle associated with many health and social benefits.
Blind Sports Victoria and Social Goal are partnering up to change the story of inclusive sports access – the key hurdle being the opportunity to participate in regular social sport.
Together we have set up junior and adult blind and vision impaired football programs. We are dreaming BIG, of a blind football league, a national team and winning gold in 2020...help us write our own story.
A team of 20 plus will be running in the 21km and 5km events, made up of freinds, family, players and supporters.
Some are blind and vision impaired, some will be blindfolded, all will be running to raise disability awareness and to simply have fun like everyone else.
Every dollar donated will go towards making disability sport options available and accessible to all.
Blind Sports Victoria is recognised by Sport and Recreation Victoria as the State Sporting Association responsible for the development and promotion of sporting and recreation opportunities for blind and vision impaired people throughout Victoria.
