About

Allow us to explain why your donation would mean so much to The Ponds School.

The Ponds School is a newly established school for students with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities. Many of our students have additional disabilities, including autism, physical or sensory disabilities and/or emotional disturbance.

Currently the school is situated in the grounds of Riverstone High School however construction has just begun of a purpose built school scheduled to be opened on The Ponds Boulevard at The Ponds in 2015.

It opened in 2012 with 4 Kindergarten classes and has quickly grown from 8 classes in 2013 to 12 classes with students from Kindergarten to Year 4 in 2014. The move to the new premises in 2015 will bring the school to 16 classes and over 100 students.

Students at The Ponds School are exposed to the same syllabus and curriculum content as all students in NSW. Activities are modified to suit the varying individual needs of all students and teachers utilise many forms of adaptive technologies to ensure the very best educational outcomes. These adaptive technologies, staff and resources place a greater impact than a regular school budget but assistance is needed for one aspect in particular.

One area that assist students is getting out and about in the community to access hydrotherapy, swim school, gymnastics, other sport, go on excursions and learn life skills. During the 2012 and 2013 The Ponds School raised enough money to purchase a bus with The Variety Club assisting the school by providing a third of the funding required. The bus has been ordered however there are many added costs for the bus and excursions which have previously not been budgeted for hence why the school needs your help.

A dedicated group of locals headed up by Renee Berry have taken it upon themselves to help. As a result there will be a fundraising trivia night held on the 29th March 2014 at the Mean Fiddler Rouse Hill. Tickets are $50 per head and include food and drink vouchers. As places are limited and you miss out or if you cannot attend, please help by donating on this page.

If you would like to attend the night or have any items or services to donate, please contact Renee Berry at thepondsspecialneedscharitynight@yahoo.com.au

The School strongly believes that the greatest educational benefits for their students come from strong community ties and supporting families throughout their child's educational journey.

Your generosity will help the School to continue to ensure the very best educational outcomes for each and every one of the students at The Ponds School.

The Ponds School is registered as a Deductible Gift Recipient with the Australian Taxation Office and all cash donations are receipted and tax deductible.
