A huge thank you to everyone who has helped me reach the $500 mark! :)
Hi
I am subjecting myself to weeks of pain, hunger and cravings in aid of Cancer Council Australia. I am also raising money in UK for Cancer Research UK (£). This subject is close to my heart as it will be for many of you. My Grandpa recently died of terminal bowel cancer and this he wanted the money to help others in his situation.
The Challenge
To lose 10kg in 15 weeks (the healthy way)! As agreed with my personal trainer, 10kg in 15 weeks, whist being achievable, will cause me enough pain and suffering to warrant donations of vast sums of money! This is especially the case because during the challenge I will have to contend with a two week holiday (Christmas), a sprained ankle and my obsession with chocolate – I LOVE chocolate! It’s going to involve a strict eating schedule and LOTS of exercise.
The weight loss will put me right in the middle of my medical ideal weight range for my height so the last few kgs will be really hard.
The Reason
The work of charities such as these has already helped prolong my Grandpa’s life giving him a few more precious years with us. So many of you have lost loved ones to cancer who were much younger than my Grandpa; I lost a friend who was just 20 and so many friends have lost their parents – something I can’t imagine going through.
Any funds that I raise will go towards helping more people stay with their loved ones longer and, hopefully, discoveries which will provide better treatments and cures.
How It Works
There are several ways in which you can support me, if you’re willing:
1. Sponsor me per kg lost (you can set a maximum).
2. Sponsor me a lump sum.
3. Sponsor me anonymously.
4. Give me much needed emotional support.
The Details
So if you want to sponsor me per kg or for a set amount I can keep you up to date and let you know how much you owe, then donate when you are ready.
Alternatively, you can just donate however much you think my efforts deserve whenever you want - right now would be good!
What Happens Now
The challenge started on the 30 November with an initial weigh in of 71.7kg and should end between the 15 February or the 14 March (for health reasons the end target cannot be set in stone). I will provide regular updates so you can keep an eye on me, how I’m doing and kick my butt if I start slacking off. If anyone wants more information about how I’m doing it just ask.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Week 2 update
So, I almost met my target of 1.2kg this week - I actually lost 0.9kg which considering I have a sprained ankle and have been out for a curry and two other meals this week, force fed choc ice cream, resisted the nicest sounding choc fondu ever, and been surrounded by chocolate whilst secret santa pressie shopping, I think it's a pretty good result! It's only 0.5lb short of my target.
So pleeeaaassseeeee sponsor me! I have suffered this week having get up at 6am to swim a mile with no legs in the cold rain -I've swum 3.5miles with no legs this week! Not to mention the agony (perhaps an exageration) of my poorly foot which would ordinarily be cured by chocolate.
Week 15 update
15 weeks in and I have lost 7.5kgs. This isn't as good as hoped but considering I got a sprained ankle which took ages to heal, Christmas hols and a two week trip to the UK (land of British Cadbury's) and that I'm seriously addicted to chocolate, I think I've done well enough to justify the money that so many people have kindly donated. I'm on a mostly protein diet (hard when you don't eat meat or fish) and there are so many rules of what I can and can't eat and when. I have been training up to 10 times a week and I even went a few weeks without a single nibble of choc - which is torture in this office!
I will keep going to lose the last 2.5kgs over the next few weeks. There's not much left to go - but it's gotten so hard! Please sponsor me and help me motivate myself to keep going.
Thank you :) and a huge thanks to everyone who has sponsored me so far.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page and thank you so much for helping Cancer Council Australia. It really means a lot.
