With the amazing support and generosity by my family, friends and kind strangers last year's fundraising in memory of mum was a huge success. I completed my first ever half marathon at Run Melbourne. I've decided to go one further out of my comfort zone and attempt the Sydney Marathon on September 15th.
The training is a physical and mental challenge I have not been up against before. Every step of the way, I am running for all those that can't.
For those that may not know:
My mum Sonja was diagnosed with a debilitating autoimmune disease called Scleroderma in 2012. Mum was committed to keeping her life business as usual and never let Scleroderma get in her way.
Unfortunately in May of 2020 mum lost her battle with Scleroderma after her health dramatically declined at 58 years old.
Scleroderma is a rare systemic autoimmune connective tissue disorder affecting only approximately 6,000 Australians.
There is currently no cure for Scleroderma, only treatment to attempt to slow down the progression of the disease commonly affecting the heart, lungs and hardening of the skin.
Please help us fundraise for Scleroderma Victoria and FIND A CURE.
