Dan's Federal Court appeal is set for mid-November.

Following the Federal Court decision in April from October last year's hearing, the Duggan's decided to appeal.
This will mean more court costs, lawyer fees, travel expenses and other associated costs.
The family is already over $1 million in debt and on top of that were ordered from the last hearing to pay the other sides costs as well.

It’s a big decision because the family is going to need at least $35k immediately for the submissions that have been filed, court appearances and other associated costs that come with this appeal.

Lawyer, Howard Adams, spoke with ABC Radio. He points out that Dan would have had to have been a clairvoyant to know that what he did back in 2012 as an Australian citizen would have him thrown in prison, over a decade later.
At the Federal Court decision hearing, the family was ordered to pay for the other side’s defence as well as their own. This just adds extra on top of the already over $1 million of debt. Meanwhile, the Australian taxpayer has been paying for the extradition battle of US' case against Dan through the Attorney-General's department.
There are so many flaws in Dan’s extradition case, but what is incomprehensible is that 3.5 years later an Australian citizen is still sitting in an Australian prison at the behest of a foreign government – with no Australian charges against him. He spent 19 months in solitary confinement in violation of United Nations rules. The government could bring Dan home at any time.
Enough is enough. It is time to bring Dan home.

The 7am podcast did a two-part episode on Dan’s case last week. It’s one thing to read about the case, but to hear Saffrine speak about Dan and the kids is heartbreaking.

Freelance journalist, Michael Sainsbury has been following the family’s struggles the last 3.5 years. In his words, if this can happen to Dan, it can happen to anyone.
It is worthy to note that no one else from the training school Dan spent a mere 18 hours all up at, has not faced any charges. Not the organisers, the other trainers, the owners - some of whom were British and Australian pilots. Only Dan. Dan and the school have always maintained that the pilots Dan was teaching were civilians and Dan was assured they were properly vetted like any other potential student.

The Duggans received another blow this morning - Dan’s appeal to have his extradition charge overturned has been denied. The judge passed down his decision in Canberra this morning leaving the family utterly devastated.
The Duggans will continue the fight to bring Dan home. They are already $1 million in debt, and with today’s expenses added on top that number just keeps climbing. The Duggans have been dealt another blow. Their empty property on the South Coast, that was seized by the US government back in 2023, has been damaged by a fire. The damage bill is about $100k.
As the family waits for more information on the possible cause, they are thankful nobody was injured. It is just another worry and financial burden for this Aussie family during this incredibly stressful time.

This new blow comes on top of two robberies at the property.
The family is still waiting for a Federal Court date for the decision to be handed down on their future, following the October 2025 hearing. Costs leading up to this impending Canberra trip for the lawyers, travel, etc are mounting.

The Duggans are facing their 4th Easter without Dan. It has been 1,258 days since Dan’s incarceration in a maximum-security prison with no Australian charges.
Please continue to help this family pay for all the costs they will be facing over the Easter weekend and in the coming weeks in the in the lead up to the Federal Court decision. The family is still waiting to hear when the next court date will be, but are putting together the lawyer fees, the travel costs for the family to get to Canberra and accommodation costs. The Duggans are in over a $1 million in debt from this 3-year battle, and the numbers are continuing to add up.
Dan has been an Australian citizen since 2012. He was arrested in October 2022, and for 2 months the family had no idea why. He has been in maximum security ever since and 19 of those were spent in solitary confinement. The extradition charge is completely flawed, and the fact Dan is being held violates numerous human rights, according to the UN and Amnesty International.

Sport is helping the family focus while they’re on high alert … and in a state of constant anxiety.
Because they still have no idea when the Federal Court will make a decision about their future. And they may only get 24 hours notice to get down to Canberra.
So, Saffrine is focused on protecting the family's mental health. She’s getting the kids outdoors and exercising. They competed in the Orange Running Festival last weekend.

It’s the matriarch of the Duggan family’s birthday tomorrow. Saffrine is an Aussie battler and our hero. She has held her family together for the past 3 years under extreme circumstances.
