Help Dr Reema Jain and Nitish Anand Reach New Research Heights
This September Reema and Nitish take on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Their mission: to raise crucial funds for medical research at WEHI, where Reema works as a Senior Research Officer in the Asselin-Labat Lab.
About Reema's Work Reema’s research focuses on personalized oncology, specifically targeting lung cancer, a disease responsible for 1.8 million deaths annually. The Asselin-Labat Lab is pioneering efforts to enhance immunotherapy treatments, which currently have limited efficacy against lung cancer. By studying tumour-immune cell interactions with advanced spatial and genomic methods, they aim to significantly improve patient outcomes.
Reema's Inspiration "Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I want to make it count. Fulfilling a lifelong dream while fundraising for WEHI and promoting our incredible work is vital. Medical research is expensive, which is why I felt compelled to combine this trip with raising awareness for my lab and WEHI. I hope my research leads to breakthroughs in patient treatment." - Dr Reema Jain
The Challenge Ahead Reema and Nitish, both passionate climbers, have previously undertaken fundraising challenges for their previous workplaces. This time, they aim to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, standing 5895m above sea level.
