"On average one woman is murdered every month by her partner or former partner"
- Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) 2017
Recent events have sparked conversations about the role we play as educators to raise awareness about the issue, and promote a positive, safe, inclusive culture for all. We all have mothers, daughters, sisters and siblings we love. Some of us have wives. It breaks our heart imagining anyone we love suffering.
When it comes to violence, the only acceptable number is 0.
As teachers, we work with children impacted by family violence.
As passionate educators we're launching a fundraising campaign to support a charity called Safe Steps, dedicated to assisting families impacted by violence. Every donation will directly contribute to providing essential resources, support services, and advocacy efforts for survivors of domestic violence and abuse.
This is one part of our humble effort to continue the conversation and work towards a future free from gender-based violence.
We are committing to swimming on average one kilometre a day in May. Join our campaign, donate generously :)
