Empowering Women in Cancer Research: Join Z and M Co. in the Fight Against Brain CancerHi! I'm Zara Skepev! I'm on a mission to eliminate brain cancer from our world - one pair of earrings at a time!!! In 2023, at just 8 years old, I founded Z and M Co., a small but mighty initiative dedicated to supporting women, especially mothers, in the field of brain cancer research.
Each year, I team up with someone new to amplify our impact. This year, I'm excited to introduce my new partner, Indie Gocevski, as we join forces to make a change.

17th March 2024, from
9am - 1pm on the
Lawns of Manuka in front of Joanne Flowers of Manuka (
The Lawns, Bougainville St, Griffith ACT 2603)
If you can't make it please donate!! Every dollar counts!!!!
Our Mission Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, every dollar we raise goes directly to backing the incredible female brain cancer researchers at the
Quinn Group Brain Cancer Discovery Team at the
Australian National University (ANU). Inspired by my mum’s work founding the
Australian Brain Cancer Foundation (ABCF), I aspire to establish my own foundation one day, with the hope to assist female researchers across all cancer types. But for now, I believe starting where research is most needed is crucial.
I’ve teamed up with ANU and we've established the
Zara Skepev Fund for Women in Cancer Research. This fund aims to remove barriers for women, particularly mothers, in brain cancer research by providing support for childcare, conference attendance, and other associated expenses, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment.
Last year with my business partner for 2023 Mila Costa, we raised over $14,000!!!!! Help Indie and I reach that goal again. Your generous contributions to last year's Z and M Co event have left an indelible mark on my journey towards making a significant difference. The proceeds were donated to my fund, the Zara Skepev Fund for Women in Brain Cancer Research and went a long way. It went towards
Dr. Olga Zaytseva, who was able to afford child care so she could return to her important work as a brain cancer researcher in Professor Quinns team at ANU and for traveling costs so she could attend conferences to advance her career. I know how many sacrifices mum’s make for their family -
help me, help them.
About Our Earrings!Over the school holidays, Indie and I poured our hearts into crafting a stunning collection of over
400 unique earrings . Not only do they look amazing they are also comfortable, light and we only use hypoallergenic backings. These pieces are not just jewelry; they are symbols of hope, resilience, and the joint effort to combat brain cancer and support women!!!
My journey into earring design began by watching YouTube tutorials and talented artists on Instagram. However, it was after my mum introduced me to the remarkable
Professor Leonie Quinn that truly ignited my passion. I put together my love for science and the art of earring crafting, leading to this venture. She is my perfect human!!
About Professor QuinnProf. Quinn leads the
Quinn Group Brain Cancer Discovery Team at ANU. She's not just my mentor, but my friend and an extraordinary scientist with a fantastic sense of humor, incredible intelligence, an amazing leader and loves legos as much as I do. Just Perfect!!! Together,
Professor Quinn and I are committed to pushing boundaries, empowering women and driving progress in brain cancer research.
Some Facts About Brain CancerBrain cancer remains a horrible monster, killing more children than any other cancer. Did you know that they still use the same medicine to treat brain cancer today that they used 50 years ago and that survival rates have not improved? That's why supporting brain cancer research is more crucial than ever—it represents our best chance at defeating this relentless disease.
Your previous support has been instrumental in our journey, and we would be so grateful to have you join us once again. Together, we can make this event a monumental success, surpassing our goals and making a tangible impact in the fight against brain cancer.
We look forward to seeing you at the event, and if you can’t make it to our stall, please donate. If you can't make it, that's ok - we understand.
