I used to love to fly. The first time I travelled abroad was with my mum, Dad and sister to Spain. I loved being in a plane. It made no sense! A metal cylinder flying through the air and it was exciting!
Fast forward about 10 years and I went to Amsterdam on a stag doo. I had a brilliant time but left a day earlier than my other stag compadres as I had work commitments. On that flight back, I experienced turbulence that left me completely terrified of flying. I’ve got through over the years but being on a plane is by far the most stressful thing i ever have to do.
So I thought, how do you beat that. Well, I could get some hypnosis, that would sort it. Or, I could take some medication when getting on the plane. But no, I don’t think that would sort the problem. So, I’ve decided to do a skydive. I think that will either sort out my problem or give me a heart attack on the way down. Either way, it’s a result.
I’ve decided that as I’m putting my life on the line, I should probably try and raise some money for a good cause.
I’m a coach for Joondalup Kinross cricket club and I coach a team of fantastic young adults with an intellectual disability.
The team would love to go on a trip to the eastern states of Australia to play other all abilities teams. To do this, we need funds.
I will throw myself out of a plane to help make this happen!
Your donations will help send a team of young people with intellectual disabilities on a trip that they’ll remember forever.
I’m booked in to throw myself out of a plane on the 1st December 2023.
Fantastic effort Lee, well done.
