On this past Tuesday the 30th May our Gladstone Emergency Department family and greater Gladstone Community lost our beloved friend and colleague Dr Disha Das. Another fellow friend and colleague was in the room as he held his dear sister's hand when she passed. Our hearts and condolences go out to Dr Shovan Das as he and his family have to do the unthinkable and say goodbye to their beloved and beautiful Disha. Disha had an infectious smile and instantly lit up a room whenever she walked into it. Her kindness and strength was incredible, moving to Gladstone in 2020 just before Covid shut the World down; Disha quickly warmed the hearts of all Drs, nurses, midwives, staff and patients at Gladstone Emergency Department, Paediatrics and Maternity ward. Disha spent countless hours on call, running in the middle of the night to do emergency caesarians' and still somehow managed to look absolutely beautiful regardless of the time of night. Disha continued to spread love and light throughout the community with her work as a GP at Gladstone GP Superclinic and Gladstone Medical Centre. The loss of her soul and enigmatic energy has hit our hospital and community incredibly hard I am therefore asking family and friends to please help Disha's family say goodbye and assist with the funeral arrangements and travel expenses. Shovan and Disha's family have travelled around the World from Bangladesh to pray and say goodbye to their beloved Daughter and sister. Shovan, and loved ones; the entire ED family is praying for Disha. REST IN PEACE DR DISHA DAS.
