On the 15th of October I’ll be completing my first ever half Marathon, 21kms of the Melbourne marathon. It’s the end goal of my rehabilitation for my ankle injuries I suffered in early 2021.
The cause of this fundraiser is very dear to my heart, as we lost my cousin Jaymie to leukaemia when he was 17 years old, too many other children are diagnosed with this devastating disease, and all the money raised in this will 100% be going to the Azaylia Foundation.
This amazing charity helps by contributing to and by focusing primarily on changing a system that considers childhood cancer to be rare, and as a result, has been underfunding childhood cancer for too long. This includes donating to UK institutions advancing early diagnosis and the availability of new treatments, and collaborating with our community and other organisations to raise public awareness and campaign for change. And as long as the current system continues to let families down, the charity also donates towards the individual treatment of children, when treatment is not covered by the NHS.
