As a youth mental health clinician, I work with young people who are going through a tough time. These young people are dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, self-harming, suicidal thoughts, gender dysphoria, bullying, homophobia and discrimination.
I often talk about how their issue can seem like a huge mountain looming in front of them making it difficult to see anything else around them. But with a bit of support, they can climb that mountain and overcome their difficulties. These young people inspire me daily with their resilience, hope and positive outlook, so I am aiming to climb a literal mountain, showing my young people that it can be done, and raising money for two fantastic youth organisations at the same time. headspace, the national youth mental health foundation and minus 18 who are champions for LGBTQIA+ youth in Australia.
In October 2024 I will be making my way to Tanzania and attempting to summit the 5895m high mountain. 100% of the funds raised go to the charities.
