Thank you for taking the time to visit my personal fundraising page, Jump for COPE!
This is just a glimpse of one new parents journey, amongst so many others.
I have had two beautiful daughters over the past 2 years, Darcy & Kaylee. These have been the best 2 years of my entire life, but also incredibly difficult for my own mental well-being.
Our expectations aren’t always right, being a parent is HARD and I know that now.
Some days, I am so crippled with anxiety that I don’t recognise myself. Other days I am terrified by my own reflection, seeing only my past demons. But it’s not as easy as just “calming down.”
There are very few people in my life that really know my struggles, past and present. But I know in order to be the best Mum for my girls, I must continue to reach out and take care of my own wellbeing first.
I was introduced to COPE by my incredible Maternal Health Nurse and my PEHS (peri-emotional health service) team, who have supported me since early in my pregnancy with Darcy.
With the dedication in preventing and supporting mental illness from organisations like COPE, I’ve been able to reach out over the past 2 years with knowing that I am not alone. It has certainly not been an easy ride, but with the extraordinary efforts from people who truly understand my personal challenges, I am becoming more vigilant and stronger every day. In today’s society, mental health is widely spoken of, especially in regards to perinatal care.
So let’s continue this! If you would like to sponsor me in raising awareness, please click the donate button or share my fundraising page with others. Every donation counts towards Mental Health Screening, referral services and 24/7 individualised support from someone who understands YOU.
A great cause. Good on you, Em xoxo
