On the 3rd Feb 2023 Kadyn went into Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne for her 8th open heart surgery 'Fontan completion and left pulmoanary artery plasty'. A 7-8 hour surgery that had to be modified due to pulmonary ateriovenous malformations in her lungs. Unfortunately the surgeons encountered multiple unforseen problems and complications and surgery would be a harrowing 15 hours long. One of those issues was they needed to reconstruct the left pulmonary artery as it tore apart when connected. Kadyn was closed up and classed as stable to go to icu. Unfortunately that didnt last long she bacame extremely unstable and required a lot of support. They did a number of test xrays and found her swollen heart had to much blood and pressure around it and it wasnt coping being closed. After many hours her chest was re-opened and Kadyn was place on ECMO (heart/lung machine) and was also on a ventilator. Since then Kadyn has had clot washout done on ecmo and Catheterisation Laboratory (CathLab) which showed narrowing of reconstructed left pulmonary artery and clots in both L/R arteries and also lungs. They managed to remove most but some still there. At this moment Kadyn has had 1 line removed off ecmo machine but is as stable as possible and they plan to take her back to Cath Lab Thursday 9/2. As you can imagine this has been a unimaginable time for her whole family, Mum Teagan is continually by her side and would appreciate everyones love, strength and prayers. The finacial burden of being a single mum with a CHD child does take a lot of work and can be financially worrying at times like these, any support however big or small would be greatly appreciated by Teagan and her family Thank you for taking the time to read Kadyns story. Please share & help if you can ?
