Moe Meteors Free Throw Challenge for OTLR's Mates in March
In memory of our team mate Caleb, the Moe U18 Boys squad presents the Moe Meteors Free Throw Challenge, raising much needed awareness for mental health concerns, and funds for Outside the Locker Room as part of their Mates in March campaign.
A treasured member of our Under 18 boys squad team, Caleb's infectious smile and cheeky personality will be dearly missed by his teammates, coaches and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As a team, we couldn't think of a better way to honour our mate than by making at least 4,030 free throws in 31 days, all whilst raising awareness and funds to support those struggling with their mental health.
Now more than ever, it's important to recognise just how serious mental health issues are in Australia.
Here's why:
~ 1 in 10 Australians seek professional support for their mental health.
~ In 2022, 3,318 Australians took their own lives, which is more than double the road toll.
~ That's 63 people every single week.. and for every person that did, another 20 attempted to.
~ In Australia, suicide is the leading cause of death in people aged 15 to 44.
~ 75% of people who take their own life are male.
Please remember to check in on your friends and family. Remind them just how much you care about them, and love them.
... and if you're struggling yourself, know that you are not alone. There are trained professionals available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Who is Outside the Locker Room?
Outside the Locker Room is a charity that provides critical mental health education and welfare referrals to community sporting clubs, schools and workplaces across Australia.
They aim to improve our individual and collective wellbeing in all communities, showing that sport is more than just a game.
The Challenge:
It's simple, practice your free throws and make 13 free throws a day for the entire month of March.
These can be shots taken at training, in the backyard, at school, in games, or even a combination of any of the above!
Individuals can record their progress via the My Cause website, and collect donations online.
